We begin the second portion of High School Youth Group for 2020-2021, the Dogma of the Trinity. We review the early development of the dogma and the heresies which forced the early Church to clarify our belief in God.

of the Trinity
February 14th - Session 13 – Introduction
and Historical Development
“Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.” -Deuteronomy 6:4
I. Calendar: Classes continue
until May 2nd. No class on March 7th, 28th,
and April 8th.
II. What does “Trinity” mean?
A. Tri – three; unity – one. Three in one.
B. Three persons in one God.
C. This is the greatest mystery
of our Faith.
III. What do we mean by “Persons”
as compared to “Nature”?
A. Nature answers the question of
“what”? What is this thing? What kind of
thing is this? Nature.
B. Person answers the question of
“who”? Who is this? Person.
IV. Trinity in the Scripture
A. The word “Trinity” is never
used in the Bible – and the dogma is not as explicit as one might think. The Bible is very clear that God is one.
However, even in the Old Testament there were hints.
