The Sunday after Easter is a special day for receiving God's forgiveness and mercy -- Jesus has promised that the one who receives Communion in the state of grace on that day, trusting in Divine Mercy, will be forgiven of all sin and also of all the punishment due to sin (purgatory). This is something like a second baptism, and we are able to receive it each year!
